Waunakee Leo Club

District Governor Elect Eric Holthaus installs Leo Club officers for the 2016-2017 year.

The fledgling Waunakee Leo Club (the youth branch of International Lions Clubs) celebrated it's official charter night with a fine banquet and member and officer installation at the Waunakee Village Center on Monday, June 9.  The event was attended by Leo member parents, Lion and Lioness club members and a number of special guests including District Governor Bob Faliveno, DG Elect Randy Harrison, Past International Director Pete Cerniglia, District Youth Exchange Director Bern August, District Leo Chair Judy Hasz and Lioness Associate District President Sue Hineline.  Lion Mike Shucha was instrumental in the formation of the club, has served as their advisor during their period of initial growth and was present to celebrate with the new members.  He has spent countless hours planning, organizing, motivating and mentoring high school age youth to be a part of the world's largest and most active service organization.

Lion Judy installed all of the new members and presented them with their new club pins.  DG Faliveno installed the new slate of officers.  Lion Ben August delivered an inspirational message to the new members as they begin a new era of community service in the Village of Waunakee and as they join Lions and Lioness members as an important part of the Waunakee Family of Lions.

Everyone enjoyed a fine catered meal of lots of pizza, meatballs, salad and more,  a menu selected by the newly recognized Leo Club members.

The new club was recognized with some gifts:  a new Leo banner on which they can mount evidence of their service accomplishments, a fine brass bell and gavel with which to call meetings to order and to announce adjournment.
