Blanket Project

Members of our club along with local seamstresses create child size blankets to furnish to local law enforcement agencies. These blankets are for children removed from their homes and placed into protective custody. They become the child’s personal property to keep with them at all times for comfort in stressful times.

Scholarship

We give a $500 scholarship to a Washington County high school senior. Applications are available at the beginning of each year from the schools. Our scholarship highlights students with visual or hearing needs.

Red Ribbon Day

The WCLLC participates in the drug awareness program known as “Red Ribbon Campaign.” This Campaign is a national event held annually and it serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities.  We partner with other Lions Clubs in Washington County and give Red Ribbon bookmarks to area school children.

 Girls State

Our Club helps sponsor a local high school junior to the Bluebonnet Girls State. This program is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. Attendees learn about government procedures on a county and state level.
