New Member Induction

Chesley Sigmon Mercado (left) was officially inducted into the Valdese Lions Club on October 12, 2020. VDG II, Marilyn Wunderler (right), was on hand to conduct the ceremony.

Chesley is no stranger to the Lions Club. Her father, C. Miller Sigmon, was district governor of 31B, President of NC Lions Association for the Blind, and ran for International President. Chesley’s mother was the first president of the Morganton Lioness Club and assisted the start of other Lioness Clubs in the state. So, when Chesley decided to move home to Morganton, she wanted to follow her parents love for Lions and get involved.

Chesley is hitting the ground running at the Valdese Lions Club and will take lead in our new diabetes program. Her father had diabetes for many years and she knows first hand the impact it has. Her goal is to increase awareness of how to prevent this disease and offer assistance to families facing diabetes.

Welcome Chesley!

Congratulations to our 2020-2021 Officers
