Projects
The club is involved in several on-going projects that include:
Flags for 3rd Graders – Program to teach flag history to elementary school children and provide an flag to each child.
Free eye exams and glasses to needy elementary school children as referred by school nurses.
American Diabetes Association Walk for the cure. Each October the club provides a breakfast for 800 or more walkers and volunteers in Tucson. More than $100,000 is raised at this project. Also, assisting at the other Diabetes Association fund drives.
Veteran’s Stand-Down. Twice a year, the club provides a pancake breakfast to help the VA outreach to homeless military veterans. The homeless vets are invited for a weekend of health screening, counseling, and clothing distribution.
Assist other Lions Clubs and Lioness Clubs in their projects, including volunteering to serve at food concession stands at the Tucson Rodeo in February each year.
Special projects to provide walkers/wheelchairs and other medical devises to the needy.
Collect eyeglasses and hearing aids for sorting and distribution to Lions Projects in
Mexico.
Adopt a highway – A one mile stretch on the Ajo Highway
Assisting Blind in applications for seeing eye dogs and assisting in raising funds to provide transportation and training of recipients.
Providing work teams for Camp Tatiyee in the White Mountains – a camp for physically disabled.
Provide winter clothing and used medical equipment to our Mexican Twin Club in Sonora.
Other projects as may be solicited by the community at large or other Lions Clubs.
