We currently offer:
- A camaraderie of like minded men and women who come together to achieve goals to help their community.
- We are a non-profit organization of 1.4 million Lions around the world – and we enjoy visiting with other clubs around the world. In 2014 (end of June) world-wide Lions will come together to celebrate being a Lion and what that means to everyone. The Trenton Lions Club will be celebrating 75 years this June 2014 also.
- Weekly bingo games Thursday night at 6:30
- Dinner events throughout the year. Most months include a Spaghetti Buffet the first Friday of the month.
- Special events such as the formal dinner and silent auction, and Christmas Eve Breakfast
- Hall Rentals for weddings, anniversaries, family gatherings, birthday parties c/w commercial kitchen facilities at very reasonable rates with professional, certified bartenders available (this is usually included in the cost of the hall)
- Special community events with our chip truck throughout the year.
- Some of our fund raising efforts go to:
- Eye care and glasses for individuals that cannot afford it.
- Diabetes awareness and finding a cure.
- Assisting with the purchase of equipment for our Local Hospital (we donated the land for the use of the Trenton Hospital over 60 years ago and have provided on-going support including the new eye clinic).
- Disaster relief and support of the local Food Bank.
- Dog Guides for Hearing, Canine Vision, Autism, Special Service, Seizure Response, and Diabetes.
- Vision and Hearing screening for kindergarten levels at local schools.
- Planting of trees to promote a healthy environment.
Challenges
- We would like to start a LEO club for the youth of Trenton. This club has many resources available to assist youth and encourage good personal growth within our community.
- Finding ways to help promote the Trenton area.
- Need fresh ideas to bring Lions together.
In closing:
It is great to be a Lion and see how we can make a difference in our community. We receive so many good feelings from helping people, and we have a lot of fun doing it.
