A hospital experience can be terrifying and traumatic for both a child and their family. While others strive to find a cure, the Ryan’s Case for Smiles project at Hasbro Childrens Hospital helps with the stress and emotional impact of illness in the here and now. One of the ways to give children an emotional boost are whimsical pillowcases created for the Ryan's Case for Smiles project. Several local Lions Clubs have been involved creating these pillowcases for donation. Recently, a total of 364 pillowcases were donated, 194 of them from the Tiverton Lions Club makers including Ann Pelletier, Ann Budlong and Sue Guilmette, a brand-new member who made 105 herself! The donation was recorded in this picture taken at Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, RI, include (from left to right): Doreen Burgers (Barrington Lions and District 42 Cabinet Secretary), Dawn Cabral-Quimby (President of the Tiverton Lions), Natalie Fleischer (Ryan's Case for Smiles RI Coordinator), Heather Tompkins and Sandra Pannone (both from the Barrington Lions), and Micaela Materne, Manager, Child Life Services at Hasbro.
