Westby Scholarship

 "What is the Westby Scholarship?"    The proceeds of our tail gating fundraiser are donated to that fund at New London Spicer High School.     The scholarship is named for a well respected DNR officer who died tragically in an auto crash.
  *  The scholarship funds a  twelve week summer internship with the DNR.
  *  The dollar amount varies depending on the donations to the fund.
       In the beginning the amount was $3000.00.  One year it was  3,500.00;  another year it was 3,200.00.  Lately the amount is $4,000.00
  * The recipient works in six areas of natural resources: enforcement,  waters, parks, fish, wild life, and forestry.
  * Kevin Aquard is the person at the school in charge of determining who gets the scholarship.
  * Some recipients in the past are Alex Nelson, Adam Gronli, Steven Westby, and Colin Wright.

This is just one of the funds which we Sunrise Lions support in our community.
