Used Eyeglass Recycle Locations in South Orange.
Why Get Involved in Eyeglass Recycling?
The World Health Organization estimates that 120 million are visually impaired because of uncorrected refractive errors (far and near sightedness). Refractive errors can be easily diagnosed, measured and corrected with eyeglasses, contact lenses or refractive surgery. Yet, millions of people lack access to these basic services.
The donated eyeglasses collected by the South Orange Lions Club can help improve the quality of life for children and adults living in low and middle income communities around the world. Many will experience corrected vision for the first time, enabling them to lead productive working lives, support their families, attend school and advance their education.

Eagle Scout Daniel Goldsmith donates bags of glasses to the South Orange Lions Club. June 19, 2019
We served over 23 nights for a total of 1,696.75 hours from November 17, 2017 through January 1, 2018 and we collected 334 bags of winter clothes, 187 bags of toys, 22,543 pounds of food and a bunch of used eyeglasses.
I enjoyed the project so much that I also served many nights this year between November 2018 and January 2019 at the Turtle Back Zoo’s Holiday Lights collection.
In all, from 2017 through 2019, I collected six full shopping bags of used eyeglasses (guessing it was hundreds of pairs) and I donated them to South Orange Lions Club on June 19, 2019.
Thank you.
