Our club was started on May 26, 1969 with 20 members. Our Sponsoring club was Webster lions. The president of the Webster Lions was John Swedberg. The organizers of our club were Robert F. Muza, Shafeec A. Mansour, William Taubman and Bernard Klugow. Our guiding lion was PDG Bill Taubman, our first president was John W. Gramer, secretary was Robert G. Lee and the treasurer was Gerald Nelson. Buzz Byrne is the only charter member still active.

Among our first fund raisers were donkey baseball, basketball and motocross snowmobile races which led to the founding of The World Championship Snowmobile Waterskip contest at The Clam Lake Narrows in Siren on the last Sunday in February which lasted over 25 years. Our big fund raisers now are meat raffles, chicken and rib fest and our world famous garage sale.

Since its charter The Siren Lions Club has raised and dispersed well over ONE AND A HALF MILLION DOLLARS! to individuals and groups locally, regionally. statewide, nationally and internationally.

We contribute our success to having had and still have a widely talented and dedicated group of guys in our charter which has grown to over 55 members. We are always looking for more members.
