On July 26, 2016, the San Francisco Unified Lions Club (“SFULC”) became a centennial club of the Lions Club International and officially the 50th club in its district, also known as District 4-C4.  SFULC was founded by Lion Alvin Louie during the centennial year Lions Club International’s existence.  As a member of the San Francisco Chinatown Lions Club for 18 years, Past President Lion Alvin Louie (2015-2016) decided it was time to form a club that embraced diverse communities with variety backgrounds from all socioeconomic levels.  Hence, the word ‘Unified’ in our Club’s name has an integral meaning.  To this day, SFULC is the largest club with over 80+ members and growing.  Our members are from a wide demographic in age, race and occupations.

On August 16, 2019, SFULC installed its second Club President since its inception in July 2016.  Lion Carol Fung, a native San Franciscan, was voted in by Club members, Board of Directors, and Officers. Lion Carol and her new Officers and Board of Directors will continue the club’s on-going service projects and will add more projects to meet its mission of serving communities. The Club’s motto this year is, “Convert Compassion Into Action.”

SFULC is also passionate about encouraging our youth to participate in community services.  The Club sponsored a Leos Club consisting of young volunteers ranging from ages 12 to 18 years old. The Leos Club creates their own community projects as they too have their own voted-in President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Board members. This platform will introduce them into a world of community service which can help them better build their future.
