SELMA CENTRAL VALLEY LIONESS LIONS CLUB-OFFICIERS

PRESIDENT

Tisha Cardoza

My motto is Live, laugh, love! I believe in Living life to the fullest, laughing at every opportunity, and loving fiercely. I’m a firm believer that joy comes from the little things in life, helping others, being a Lion, and sharing good food with great friends. My idea of a perfect weekend involves yelling at the TV while watching my Chargers play and mastering the art of snack consumption. I am Passionate about making a difference, I believe in the power of small acts of kindness. Whether volunteering at the Portuguese hall, cooking for Christian Cafe, or organizing something for my community, I strive to leave the world a little better than I found it.

VICE PRESIDENT

Betty Alves

Hi, I am Lion Betty Alves, Charter President of CVLLC. Before we chartered, I was a Lioness with my mom.  At that time my dad was in the Selma Lions, which he served for over 50 years. I have followed in their footsteps.  I have been a Lion for 40 years.  I guess I started serving our community since I was a little girl.  I was born and raised in Selma and attended Selma Schools. I have two children, Bobby and Lorraine. I have 3 grandchildren that I am so proud of.  I worked at Selma Unified and worked there for 32 years as the Adm. Secretary for the Asst. Supt. of Business Services.  I was also Adult School Secretary 15 of those years.  I have been a member of numerous clubs and held many positions and helped them with forms and proper Robert's Rules of Order.  I helped start the Booster Club for the Marine Corps kids at the high school. At my church, I have been a lector for 32 years. I enjoy serving the community and get satisfaction providing happiness to children and the parents of our deserving families and students.  I don’t need trophies or certificates.  My satisfaction is seeing their faces of joy and that makes my heart happy. I pray I will be able to continue to serve our club and community for many more years.

SECRETARY

Maxine Abe

CVLLC President Bev recruited me in 2005, one year after our club was established. Vowing only to come to a few meetings a year, this club grew on me the more I became involved, first as a director, vice president, 2-term president, multi-term secretary, and Leo Adviser. I especially enjoy the projects servicing the elderly and youth. Our very well-known and respected club keeps me "relatively" young and involved, and forces me to remain current, viable, and somewhat up to date with technology. Ugh! Very special to me is working side-by-side with 6 of my former 3rd grade students and a group of very fine people who care and are willing to serve our community for a better today and tomorrow! I am proud to be a member of CVLLC. "We may not have a lot of money, but we have a big heart!" AND we need younger, energized, technology-savvy, committed members with new and fresh ideas to take the mantle and continue the legacy of this fine club!

CO SECRETARY

Erika Cardoza

If it looks like I’m up to something I probably am. Born and raised here in Selma, by my mom Anita “Susie” Mott (Wilkinson). I worked in customer service for almost 20 years, and then moved into In Home Supportive Services. I became a Lion because I saw, through Tisha, that the Lions club was very philanthropic, and I admired that. I am also very grateful for the friendships I have made and will continue to make through the Lions Club.
