RYE CITY LIONS WORKING FOR OUR COMMUNITY
- Athlete/Scholar of the Month & Year: each month a student athlete from Rye High School is named athlete of the month and presented with a certificate. At the end of the school year the names of all the monthly winners are put to a vote by the entire student body to elect the student athlete of the year. At an award luncheon in June the student voted Athlete of the Year is awarded a grand trophy. Students are cheered on by their parents, coaches, school officials and the entire Rye Lions Club.
- Charter Dinner: held each November to commemorate the founding of the Club. A highlight of the dinner is the awarding of the James A. and Marian Shea Community Service Award that honors a member of the Rye Community who has donated time and effort to improving the quality of life for Rye's citizens. A nomination form is attached to this web site.
- Eye Glasses Collection: is an on-going effort throughout the Rye community. After collection, eye glasses are delivered to a repair center in New Jersey where they are recycled for use by those who might not be able to afford corrective lenses.
- Winter Coat Drive: held periodically to supply gently used winter coats donated by the community to those in need.
- Wine Auction: held each January as a fun fundraiser for the Club. If you love a bit of fun and fine wine contact Pat McCarthy, membership chair about trying a meeting like this one on for size.
