White Cane Days

The last week of April and the next weekend are set aside for White Cane Days. Lion's Club Members are stationed at many local businesses. This major fundraiser for Lions Clubs around the world is also an opportunity to make people aware of those that are sight imparted and the problems they encounter. Funds raised are used to support the Leader Dog School for the Blind in Rochester and are also used to help those in need with eye exams and the purchase of eyeglasses.

Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army

For over 50 years, our club has manned the Salvation Army red kettles from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve.  Every year since 2011 we have raised over $10,000 for the Salvation Army - far exceeding all other service organizations.

Christmas Party for Silent Children

Every year we host a Christmas party for preschool children with speech problems.  These children are from families that cannot afford the cost of speech therapy, so our Lions district provides scholarships for these kids.  Santa passes out gifts to the excited children.  And for entertainment before the luncheon and party, we are serenaded by the Royal Oak H S choir.

Family Adoption for Christmas

Every year we are given a family to adopt from the Salvation Army.

Annual Golf Outing

Our annual golf outing is held on the third Thursday of September at Bay Pointe Country Club. We have  had about  30 foursomes for each year since it began in 2008.

Worldwide Week of Service

In recognition of the Worldwide Week of Service in January we serve about 1,800 meals to the hungry and homeless from three Salvation Army trucks on the streets of Detroit.

Used Eye Glass and Hearing Aid Collection
