Yearly Events:
Each year following the camp, we host the campers and families for a dinner to recognize the campers.
Past Events:
On August 22, 2018 the Rosenberg Lions Club hosted 7 Texas Lions Camp attendees and their families for a dinner and recognition. The young people shared their experiences at the Texas Lions camp held in Kerrville Texas. Rosenberg Lions President, Eugene Aufdembrink interviewed each of the participants about what they enjoyed most at the weeklong camp and presented the campers with certificate of recognition. All but 1 of the campers had attended the camp more than once. One camper had attended 5 consecutive years and several had attended 4 years. All said that they wanted to go back next year. This year the Rosenberg Lions Club sponsored a total of 9 campers at the camp.
Texas Lions Camp is a summer camping facility dedicated to serving children from the State of Texas who have physical disabilities and Type-1 diabetes. The camp is located on over 500 acres of hills and woodlands in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Programs at the Texas Lions Camp offer campers a chance to try new activities and create long-lasting friends while developing greater self-esteem and independence. Children eligible to participate in the summer camp program must be between the ages of seven and sixteen and have a qualifying disability. The camp is provided by the Lions of Texas at no cost to the families of these children.
