Lions Clubs are part of community life, in the cities and in the country. Clubs are easily identified by their distinctive Logo, the trademark of our International Association, and the 'We Serve'; motto.
Lions Australia is part of an international association, filled with people who are joined by the common desire to make their communities better, by using their creativity, enthusiasm and energy.
Membership is open to all people of the community in good standing.
This website is where you can find out about your own local Lions Club.
History of Rochedale Springwood Lions Club Inc
And some of the projects that we have been involved in
The Lions Club of Rochedale Springwood was formed in early 1972, receiving its Charter in May of that year, thus having served the Community Service needs of the Logan area continuously for 50 years. Many have served the club over the years and you can click the link to see the honour roll of executive officers
Our Club began working in the Rochedale Springwood area from the very early days of this emerging community settlement, being primarily responsible for the establishment of the Springwood Ambulance. The 1st ambulance indeed, was provided from funds raised by the Rochedale Springwood Lions Club.
As our Club is dedicated to helping those in need, there is an endless list of the ways in which we have aided and assisted the people of the Community in need of our service. We have worked very hard indeed to raise funds in a variety of ways to enable us to achieve our much publicized purpose of, "giving freely of our time labour and means", in the pursuit of giving help and comfort to those of the Community who need this solace so much, in order to sustain their very existence.
We have assisted the youth in our area by developing the Youth of the Year Comopetition for year 12 Students . We promote Peace through our International Peace Poster Contest Project for 11 to 13 year olds.
We assist Year 1 teachers with their Language Curriculum in encouraging writing for a purpose through our Letters to Santa Project. We encourage students at the Special Education Units at Kuraby and Springwood through awards and recognition. We work closely with the Logan East Community Neighbourhood Centre and assist in many of their service projects. We assist individual members of our community as the need arises. We have provided the Logan Hospital and the Ambulance service with "Trauma Teddies" to assist children unfortunate enough to have been traumatized for one reason or another.
We have several fund-raising activities planned for the rest of 2021 and for 2022. We are also planning several community projects in 2022 that need additional community support. The details of these will be posted on our Facebook site soon.
Did you know that 100% of our funds raised go to those in need?
