Commemorating 100 Years of Lions Clubs in Canada2020 marked the 100th year of Lions Clubs in Canada. The first Lions Club in Canada was established on March 12, 1920 in Windsor, Ontario. To commenorate this milestone the Redwater Lions Club, in cooperation with the Redwater Arboretum Society and the Redwater Golf Club, planted 100 seedling trees on the Redwater golf course. |
Redwater Lions Community Christmas CardThe communuity Christmas card, located at the Redwater Post Office, allows familes and business to send Christmas wishes to others in the community. Patrons pay a $10.00 fee to have their name added to the card. In 2020 we upgraded to using a digital sign for the community Christmas card. Each year the club realizes about $800.00 profit from the community Christmas card. The Club is very thankful for all the sponsorship we recieve from John at Ideal Signs for this project. |
Lions Mascot VisitsLions club members, dressed in the Lions mascot costume, visited people at the Redwater Health Centre, Diamond Spring Lodge, and local businesses. |
Redwater Town Wide Garage SaleDue to the COVID pandemic the yearly town wide garage sale was cancelled. We look forward to resuming this event when public health regulations permit us to do so. |
Grey Cup Raffle Due to the COVID pandemic the Canadian Football League (CFL) suspended operations in 2020. Consequently, our yearly Grey Cup raffle did not take place in 2020. We look forward to resuming this raffle when the CFL resumes play. |
Redwater Lions 70th Anniversary CelebrationA community celebration commemorating the Redwater Lions Club's 70th anniversary was cancelled due to the COVID pandemic. |
Lions Eyeglasses Recycling ProgramThe club participates in the recycling of eyeglasses through donation boxes in hospital and doctor's offices in Redwater. Each year more than 400 pairs of eyeglasses are recycled by our community and given to people in developing countries. |
The Redwater Lions Club is looking for its next long term project that will benefit the entire community. Past projects have include ukuleles for the elementary school's music program, chairs for the community hall and funding for the Town's walking trails. Ideas will be solicited for the club to decide on and begin fundraising.
