To: All Scouts, Scouters, Parents, and Guardians of Scouts      in Chisholm Trail District, BSA:

Every year we offer one or more scholarships to outstanding high school seniors in the Plano area. Since our scholarship funds are a result of our fundraising activities, the amounts vary from year to year.  This year we have chosen to offer a scholarship to a deserving Scout from one of your troops.

We are pleased to announce that this year we will be offering a $5000 scholarship.  This amount will be paid directly to the higher education institution of the student’s choice in two payments of up to $2500, one for fall semester and one for spring semester. 

All High School Senior students that were in Scouting at the beginning of this current school year (even if they have aged out or moved onto other Scout related organizations) are eligible to apply for this award. This award is not just for someone going onto college. Any post-high school learning institution qualifies (i.e., technical school).

We are not looking for the student with the highest grades, necessarily, although scholastic achievement is one of the scoring criteria. We are looking for candidates that active in activities other than Scouts, including clubs, band, student council, etc. Eagle Scout rank is not a criteria for winning the award, but we do want a candidate who has remained active and involved with Scouting.

A candidate should show a "heart for service" to the community, have a plan for the future, and demonstrate leadership.

Attached is the scholarship application, information, and submission addresses.  Applications must be received by midnight April 29, 2023 in order to be considered. You will receive an email acknowledging receipt of the application.
