DID YOU KNOW?

Plano Early Lions regularly collect gently used eyeglasses to be cleaned, sorted, and given to those in need.  We pass these on to the Texas Eyeglass Recycling Center in Midland where the prescriptions are measured and they are sorted by prescription.  Many of them are sent to Chihuahua, Mexico for those who cannot afford glasses.  Each day-7 days a week 1500 pairs are fitted, totaling over 500,000 pairs per year!  How can you help?  Scroll down to our list of places where you can drop off your gently used glasses.  You can help others greatly by passing on glasses you no  longer use!

Plano Early Lions Step Back from Parades

We regret that the time has come for the Plano Early Lions Club

to step aside from its service role as organizer in the City of Plano

Christmas and Independence Day parades.  It was a good 30

year run, but we are no longer able to meet the needs of a

growing city government and believe it is time to let others bring a

fresh look to these fun city events.  We would like to thank the

City of Plano and the Plano Independent School District for their

wonderful collaboration with us over the years in service to the

citizens of Plano.  We hope that the City or another civic group

will continue to host future parades because they are fun and help

us all demonstrate Civic Pride in our City and our Country, where

we live and work. They are an important part of our healthy,

vibrant community life and we are very sad that we are no longer

able to continue this tradition.
