Cape Town Lions Club
The Lions Club of Pinelands (1961) has recently merged with the Lions Club of Cape Town (1957) - the first club to be chartered in Cape Town. We will now be serving a broader community with our service projects which include food donation to 6 different shelters, beanies, booties and mittens to Mowbray Maternity Hospital, spectacle collection (these are matched to those who need spectacles and cannot afford them), bingo with seniors in Thornton, sandwhich collection at a local school which are donated to an Educare in Brooklyn, and our foo foo doll project - we make these cloth dolls, and their clothes, to be given to children who need something to love and call their own. We also hold a bimonthly booksale in Gardens and deliver fresh fruit and vegetables to shelters every month.
We are part of Lions Clubs International which is the world's largest service club organisation, with 45,000 clubs and 1.35 million members worldwide.
Lions Clubs around the world work tirelessly to uplift those less fortunate, help people with disabilities and address needs within the wider community.
The Club is always looking for new members and new ideas so we are appealing to you, the community, to step up. We are a family oriented club and aim to do projects which your family can participate in. We appeal to you not to be the kind of person who thinks “Someone else will do it.”
