The Otumoetai Lions - Taiwan Education Trust

 

The Otumoetai Lions - Taiwan Education Trust was formed in 1998 and is administrated by the Otumoetai Lions Club Inc, with two NZ resident Taiwanese families.

 

The Criteria for an Otumoetai Lions Taiwan Education Trust Scholarship.

The Scholarships are to be made available to students of any college situated in the area served by the Tauranga District Council who are normally in their year 12 or 13 studies, to assist them to enter a New Zealand University or Polytechnic Institution.

The recipient should be a good all-rounder, who is likely to achieve and do well academically at University and who on graduation, would contribute to the community. Financial need will be taken into consideration, other factors being equal.

A minimum of two Scholarships per year are available and will be in addition to bursaries and allowances in the normal course of events to any student attending a University.

A student holding a scholarship may re-apply for a second year but the grant shall be at the discretion of the Trustees and is subject to a satisfactory performance and giving regard to the funds available.

An applicant must:

  1. Have spent all their secondary school years at a secondary school in the Tauranga District.
  2. Be over the age of 16 years.
  3. Be born in New Zealand
  4. Have a parent or parents who are New Zealand citizens or who permanently resident in New Zealand.
  5. Not be eligible for financial tertiary education assistance, in any form, from any other source except the student loan scheme and the tertiary student allowance for low income families.
  6. Demonstrate a financial need for the grant.
  7. Be a person of good standing and integrity.

 

Applications close for the calendar year on first Monday of December and need to be forwarded to:
