Meetings
  • Each April, the club works with the Center for the Visually Impaired, catering and furnishing labor and food for their annual spaghetti dinner. Newark Lions's volunteerism allows local receipts, which usually exceed $2,000, to go directly to the center.

  • The collection of used eye glasses at our weekly luncheon and at several area banks has allowed for the donation of thousands of usable eye glasses to those in need throughout the world.

  • Each Christmas, several of our members assist the Salvation Army in their Bell Ringing Project, allowing for the collection of additional funds.

  • Each fall, we sponsor a raffle which awards the winner two tickets for a cruise. This is a very important project as it potentially raises over $3,000 for the club.

  • A useful and ongoing project is the sale of large plastic trash bags. These are good quality, inexpensive trash bags whose sale nets the club close to $2,500 annually.

  • Each year during the winter, the club sponsors a pizza sale. This is a very successful (and fun) project as many of our club members and their families are involved in the making and delivery of the pizzas.

  • Another fundraiser is the White Cane Sale. Members of the club stand at local business establishments seeking donations. The Lions are frequently joined by members of the Leo Club from Newark High School, which is sponsored by the club.

As you can see, involvement in the Newark Lions Club can be a challenging but very rewarding experience. We hope you consider joining and becoming involved!
