OUR COMMITMENTS

  • Financial contributions to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, a non profit agency that trains dogs for the blind
  • Donations to Recycle for Sight (part of Lions International in which local clubs collect used glasses that are sent abroad to those who need them) To date our club alone has collected over 12,000 glasses)
  • Eye screenings for Pre-Schoolers at Boys and Girls Club of Northern Westchester and Neighbor’s Link using a Scanner which assists in identifying ocular conditions which may lead to amblyopia or “lazy eye”
  • Free eye glasses for school children referred to us by the school nurse. These are students who cannot afford but require eyeglasses

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS:

  • Annual funding for three Fox Lane Senior Scholarships.
  • In conjunction with other Lions Clubs, contribute to the funding of the Annual Nursing Scholarship for high school seniors and Caremount employees.
  • Founded the "Outstanding Teacher of the Year" award.
  • Collected and distributed over 12,000 eyeglasses to date.
  • Purchased specialized personal computers for two local area students with visual impairments.
  • Helped fund the purchase of an $80,000 ophthalmological microscope for Northwestern Westchester Hospital.
  • Donated $25,000 to the Mount Kisco Child Care Center building fund.
  • Contributed to the funding of a new playground at the Mount Kisco Elementary School
  • Donated to Parents As Teachers bilingual board books for pre-schoolers.
  • Distributed in 2002 $36,000 to families of the World Trade Center victims.

We depend on donations and fundraising to support our work.  We plan to re-activate our fundraising efforts now that COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
