The last year or more has been very restrictive, and as a club the pandemic has meant we haven't been able to do everything we would normally do. We did however successfully distribute 12 festive parcels at Christmas to deserving people, 5 of which were located through Christian Aid for the Poor (CAP).
We supported the Royal British Legion by purchasing a wreath for Rememberance Sunday.
Our usual Easter Egg raffle was cancelled due to conronavirus restrictions, as the Pubs were closed.
We recently distributed plants in our 2021 Plant Sale. Thanks to those who purchased plants.
We continue to work closely with CAP.

Christmas parcels: Thanks on behalf of a 99 year old lady - from her neighbour
Hi Carole. Well... I can honestly say you've made a 99 yr old lady the happiest lady in town!! She is absolutely thrilled with her hamper! She made me get everything out and have a look then put it all back (apart from pate and cheese that's in fridge!) so as to show her son-in-law and niece who are visiting tomorrow!! She's totally elated... Thank you so much, and she thinks you are such a lovely couple! It's a fab hamper absolutely perfect... some really lovely things to eat yummy treats in there too!! Thank you again have a lovely Christmas.
Christmas parcels: Feedback from CAP representative
Dear Monmouth Lions, Thank you so much for your support of our Wye Valley CAP Christmas hamper appeal. Your donation has made a big difference to my clients lives this Christmas. When we live a life of relative prosperity and comfort it is hard to imagine what life is like in our community for those who have significantly less than we do. This has been my personal experience working for Christians Against Poverty, here in Monmouth.
Some quotes from people that received hampers:
“Hi Elaine, I just wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you for the hamper I received. It is really amazing and full of lovely treats that we would not be having otherwise. Please pass on my gratitude to all involved. Have a lovely Christmas
“Thank you for the Christmas parcel, it is really helping us out.”
“This is just wonderful; we have now got something to celebrate with!”
“I can’t believe this is all for me, thank you so much.”
One lady was speechless and just cried. I received several Texts on Christmas day saying “Thank You” for all the help and practical support they had received.
I bought meat vouchers with the cheque you gave me and added them to the large hamper of Christmas goodies Thank you for being part of this and changing lives.
Elaine.
