Mobile Cold room/Freezer unit

As part of our service area for Disaster Relief and Recovery we procured a mobile refrigeration unit.  It is also the clubs intention to provide this unit to clubs at no cost who are also fundraising or running an event when our club is not requiring it.  For us to best serve our community we intend to hire to the public and profit will be put 100% back into community projects and causes. 

E-waste recycling

Single use and rechargeable batteries, ink and printer cartridges, and most small electronic waste is collected across Marlborough and sent off to Rockhampton for recycling.

Recycle for Sight – glasses collection

Used eyeglasses are collected from various locations across Marlborough and sent off to Lions Recycle for Sight Team for processing and distribution to those in need.  All scripted glasses and not broken or scratched will be accepted by local collection points. 

LEHP children vision screening program – upcoming project*

Vision screening conducted in primary schools by Lions accredited under the LEHP Children’s Vision Screening Program to detect vision related issues of students needing referrals to Optometrists for professional intervention.

Fundraising

Fundraising is one way we raise money to keep our projects and causes supported.  Our club takes up opportunities to raise money and include:

• Sausage Sizzles
• Lions Christmas Cakes and confectionary sales
• Monthly Raffle
• Containers for Change Collection
• Catering at events: Capricorn Dirt Riders Club, Livingstone Shire Council local meetings.

Causes we support

In our community

National Tree Day is a day we work with local council and plant native trees in locations around Marlborough and Ogmore in areas locals can continue nurturing these plants.

Clean Up Australia is a day we allocate once a year to support this environmental initiative.  Also, weekly we attend to collecting containers for change and e-waste.

There are many local clubs, organisations and schools we provide donations and support:  Ogmore Community Recreation Committee, Marlborough Agricultural Show Association, Marlborough Hall Committee, Marlborough State School, and Clarke Creek State School.  We are willing to assist all clubs in the surrounding area.
