What if I don't want to join the club but simply help?
Being a Lion member:
Being a Lion is all about helping others. Let's face it, none of us would do anything if we didn't get some sort of pleasure or good feeling about what we do. Colin Morgan, one of our past Presidents, who's been a member for 27 years, once said that "he got a great deal of pleasure from being a member of Loughborough Lions Club, whether that be from, tin/bucket 'rattling' in a supermarket, handing out cheques to worthy causes or helping the Loughborough Blind Social Club members on a day out, it's human nature after all!
Loughborough Lions are ordinary people working together to serve those in need of support.
About Lions:
Lions are ordinary people who do extraordinary things to help others and support good causes throughout the British Isles. Globally we have more volunteers in more places than any other service club organisation, and love to step forward to volunteer, help other and make things happen.
Wherever you live, work or travel across the British Isles, you are likely to come across members of Lions clubs and the projects we support.
What does it cost?
Like every other organsation there are costs involved, there has to be. There are many things that have to be complied with, Health and Safety for one, insurance, the list goes on. However, Lions Clubs International is completely aware that the cost of living is rising and money is tight. But, Lions dues for membership is well below that of most of the other service organsations. In fact, our membership cost is well below the cost of a cup of coffee a week, so it can be very affordable. None of the money we raise goes into our membership cost, that is something that we are very proud of. There are also reduced costs for family membership, not quite 2 for 1 but not far off.
Be a friend of Loughborough Lions Club:
We appreciate that becoming a member of any club may not be everyones 'cup of tea' and whilst we would love to have new members with fresh ideas, we always need help with anything that we do. You may have special skills or methods that we could benefit from, you may be great at raising money or you may simply be good with people.
