January 8, 2025: Recently appointed Town of Los Gatos Mayor, Matthew Hudas. Matthew's 10 + years of service to the community include, serving Los Gatos as Chair of the Planning Commission, Planning Commissioner, Chair of the Historic Preservation Committee, member of the General Plan Committee, the Housing Element Advisory Board, and others.
January 15, 2025: Dr. Daniel "O" Orange, Oceanographer, Marine Geophysical Expert. Dan is assistant Scientist at University Institute of Marine Sciences, Santa Cruz. Dan will give an interesting presentation on sea exploration and laying sea fiber optics cables and sea floor mapping. He will explain the Geophysical hazards, such as undersea earthquakes, landslides, and sediment flows (or turbidity currents), that pose significant risk to submarine cables. Globally, more than 420 submarine cable systems, (more than 1.8 million km of cable) connect more than 99 percent of all international digital data traffic. These cables can cost hundreds of millions of dollars to construct and have become vital infrastructure for commercial and national interests. This program is funded by the US Navy, since 1992.
January 22, 2025:
January 29, 2025: Kimberly Snyder, Executive Director of NUMU, New Museum of Los Gatos. Kim will talk about museum programs and the current and upcoming exhibits. This will include the annual ArtNow, Apr 4, 2025 – Jul 20, 2025, annual juried Santa Clara County high school art exhibition and educational program, presented by New Museum Los Gatos (NUMU). The ArtNow Exhibition and supporting programs offer opportunities for high school student artists, from Palo Alto to Gilroy, to gain real-world experience in participating in a juried museum exhibition. Each year, a new theme is chosen for the exhibition and students are asked to submit works based on that theme.
February 5, 2025: Special performance by the Los Gatos High School Choir, directed by Maricel Riley. Choir will begin their performance at 12:30 PM. This is a good time to bring a guest.
February 12, 2025: Student Speakers 85th annual contest club level competition. LGHS students will be presenting this year's topic "For a Better World - What would you Change?". This is the first level of the competition and the winner will move on to the next level Zone contest. The Fourth District Student Speakers Foundation is a California nonprofit corporation. The purpose of the Foundation is to provide scholarships to the winners of the California Multiple District Four Student Speakers Program.
