2014 Suwannee County Fair
Lions 2014 Fair Concession Fundraiser is a Success
Thank You Fair Goers!
From April 4 through April 12 our Live Oak Lions Club again sold our popular burger, fries, and drinks to a delighted crowd. It was a common comment to hear people say they had looked forward all year to getting an order of the now traditional Lion Burgers. This year we offered Deep Fried Oreos after a trial last year. Many folks in our area are not familiar with the treat but after trying them the majority was surprised and came back for more.
The fair concession is our Live Oak Lions Charities main fund raiser for the year. It would not be possible to do without all the help provided by local volunteers, Lion spouses, and our high school LEO Club members who fill in as needed preparing, cooking, and serving.
The annual LIONS Horse Shoe Tournament is a fairly new fund raiser that is becoming popular in the area among pitching enthusiasts and novices. This year we are planning on a Saturday, June 28 date. If an individual or 2 person team is interested they need to register early…space is limited! Call (386) 362-2986 or 209-4109.
Funds collected from the public by our Lions Club fund raisers are returned to the public through service programs. It is not used to operate the LIONS club nor benefit its members. Our main public service activity is to arrange and provide eye exams and eye glasses to Suwannee citizens who are financially unable to obtain vision care otherwise. Also we can provide on a limited basis hearing aides to our local area most in need. We also support our youth especially for positive academic achievement and civic development.
Also we have collected for many years used eyeglasses. The donated glasses are measured, cataloged, boxed, and sent in volume to areas of this country and over the world where they are gladly received by people in desperate need. Medical and eye care professionals who are Lion members donate their time and expertise by joining together on mission trips with others to provide eye care and issue these refurbished glasses to people who often times have never seen clearly until a Lion shows up. If you have any old glasses you can give them to a Lion member of or a LEO Club member in school

LIVE OAK LIONS CLUB
All net proceeds from fund raising projects are returned to the community through our Live Oak Lion Charities service activities. Our supporter's proceeds are not used to operate the club or fund it's member's activities.
Thanks to the fine community support we get at our activities we are able to address some needs (primairly vision related) of our less fortunate citizens in the community and recognize the academic achievement of our school youth. As example, last year we were able to provide eye exams and 90 pairs of eyeglasses to people in our community who otherwise could not have gotten them.
