Benefits & Requests of Membership
Each Lions Club strives for a membership that is an up-to-date and progressive representation of its community’s business, vocational and professional interests. Our motto is “We Serve.”
Your joining our club allows us to:
- Expand our work in protecting the gifts of sight and hearing by testing students in the Clover Park, Steilacoom, and Dupont school districts
- Actively support our vulnerable children and their families in collaboration with Caring for Kids and the Boys and Girls Club
- Support the community of Springbrook with an annual Easter egg hunt and other summer activities
- And bring support to actively combat diabetes in our community
Membership in Lions offers a number of benefits to you including:
- Effecting change within the community
- Developing leadership skills
- Gaining understanding of international humanitarian issues
- Developing relationships with other community leaders
In return for these benefits, each member has certain obligations to Lions Clubs International and others that are set by the local club.
Obligations as a Lakewood First Lions Club member are:
- Required to pay annual dues to their club, district, and Lions Clubs International (LCI), which include a $35 one-time initiation fee and annual dues of $100 annually
- Expected to participate in fundraising activities and community projects in support of the goal of “We Serve”
- Encouraged to aspire to leadership and committee roles within the club
- Meetings are held at noon on every 2nd and 4th Mondays at The Ram Restaurant in Lakewood
