Financial Assitance for the Sik Family

Dear all,

We wish to bring to your attention the plight of Madam Sik Wai Chu and family.

Madam Sik. is a rubber tapper and her husband is a vegetable farmer. They have 3 children, 2 girls aged 23 and 21, and a boy aged 11 years old. Recently in 24^th. November 2013 , Madam .Sik was admitted to USM due to a stroke. After the operation, Mdm went into coma. She is fed with special milk via a tube and is now in critical condition(Brain Damage). As a result, her 2 daughters who are working as general clerks quit their jobs to take care of their mother. On the 15th of January 2014, Mdm was transferred back to KK hospital for the convenience of the family.

As they come from a poor family and are in need of financial assistance, we are now helping them to apply for financial assistance from Jabatan Kebajikan Malaysia for OKU benefits.

Meanwhile, to tide through this difficult period while waiting for the financial aid, I propose the Presidents of the Clubs /members come forward to help Mdm by getting donations for her and her family.

The family request Suction Pump, PEG Tube, Ripple mattress, special folded bed, pampers and special milk.

During the Chinese New Year, we delivered foodstuff, daily supplies and cash RM2,200 (Bank in RM3,000.00), medical supplies like suction pumps, PEG tubes, ripple mattress to the Sik Family located behind Krai Seafood Restaurant, Jalan Kuala Krai /Gua Musang.

Ln Wan Siew Leng from LC Kuala Krai attended the Regional Lions Leadership Institute(RLLI) for fiscal year 2013-2014 hosted by District 308B1 on the 12 to 15 December 2013 (4 days 3 nights) at Holiday Villa Subang Jaya.

The purpose of the Regional Lions Leadership Institute is to provide Lions leaders with an opportunity to enhance skills and knowledge in leadership responsibilities.

Tree Planting Environmental Project is Lions yearly campaign. With so much environmental destruction around Cameron Highlands, we planted another 130 trees at the SRJK(C) KEA FARM , Brinchang to create awareness to the 30 students & and community to love our environment.

4, Disaster Relief Fund – Ringlet Dam Disaster in Cameron Highlands on the 24^th Oct 2013

After a heavy downpour at the Ringlet Dam, TNB released water from the Sultan Abu Bakar Hydroelectric Dam after the siren was sounded, and it brought destruction to the Bertam Valley in Ringlet. As a result, 3 people lost their lives, 100 houses was destroyed or under water and over 100 vehicles was badly damaged.

Lions are well known as people who can provide basic assistance following a disaster. All profits from ticket sales, after deducting all expenses, were donated to the relief effort.

25/10/2013 - We collected 200 posters from 12 schools and selected the best 40 posters ( 10 posters from each club ) to be displayed at the 5^th. Floor of Billion shopping Mall. A total budget of RM2200.00 for this project were shared among the 4 clubs. Approximately 120 students with parents , teachers & 36 Lions members attended the prize presentation ceremony. The 32^nd LIONS Club of Kuala Krai & the 14^th LIONESS Installation of CLUB OFFICERS saw Lion V Nyanasegere installed as President for a 2^nd term along with Board of Directors who will hold office for another fiscal year of 2013 & 2014. The committees were installed by the Past District Governor Dr JP Kamalanathan in a simple ceremony.

President Nyanasegere and his BOD then pledged to do their very best to make it another year of success in their services. He also hopes for better club membership extension so that the club could provide better quality services for the community.

To have a simple ceremony yet meaningful and private night there was dinner followed by fellowship. Everyone present was comfortable and happy and enjoyed the night.
