- The Lions Club of Kingsburgh
- The club was established (known as “Chartered” in Lions terms) on the 19th September 1975.
- We currently have 14 members
- The Club meets every month on the 2nd Monday of the month at 2:00pm
- The Club has the following officials (as at 1st July 2024):
- President - Moira Rigby
- Secretary - Louise Ubleis
- Treasurer - Hannie Vieira
- Public Relations Officer - (officer position is vacant)
- Club Alert Officer - Dave Rigby
- Fund Raiser - Rene Matthews
- Membership Chair - Hannie Vieira
- Club officials have no more power or influence than an ordinary member and the club is run very democratically.
- The President of the club will chair the meetings and represent the club if needed at other meetings or within the community.
- Everything a club member does as a Lion has to be done with the agreement and support of the whole club. Lions work through The Club - remember we are members of The International Association of Lions Clubs - we work through and with the support and agreement of the club.
- Should a member wish to embark on a service project or a service piece of work it has to be proposed to the club and a seconder has to be found to support the idea. The idea will then be discussed at a meeting and put before the club as a proposition to be voted on. If the idea is agreed by a a majority vote in favour then the member can proceed with the idea as an official Lions project but if there is not enough support for the idea from the membership then the member may still embark on the project but it will not be an official Lions activity.
- Lions shirts / T shirts can only be worn when on official Lions business or at Lions business meetings (local and others).
- A service project or piece of work can only be an official Lions project if discussed and approved by the club membership.
- Lions regalia and logos can only be used on an official service project or piece of work.
- Lions regalia and logos and association on Social Media can only be used on an official service project or piece of work.
- Wear your badge with pride all the time and for every occasion.
- The club has two active WhatsApp groups - “Kingsburgh Lions Club” for general and social information between members and “Kingsburgh Lions Business” for business communication between members.
- We Serve
- “We Serve” is the official Lions Motto - it is a simple clear message - Lions, all over the world, share the same passion, they take pride and get great satisfaction and pleasure out of serving people in need within the community they live.
- There are many opportunities within The Lions Organisation to fulfil your other aims and ambitions.
- There are many training courses in leadership and other skills and they are usually either free or subsidised by the organisation.
- LCI recognise that they need leaders and skilled people to maintain the growth and momentum of Lions throughout the world so you are encouraged to take every opportunity to improve your leadership skills and take up responsibility should you wish to do so.
- You are also encouraged to follow your heart and to find what motivates you to be a Lion and how you can put that motivation to use within the community.
- If you have an idea you are encouraged to raise it with your club and seek support. You will find in most cases you are pushing at an open door and members will be very supportive and will encourage you.
- You must seek the support and encouragement of the club - together we are much stronger and can do more - To Serve.
