The Kernersville Lions Club provides eye exams and glasses for qualified local residents in Kernersville and Walkertown.

Annually, we do vision screenings at these ten (10) local schools: Kernersville Elementary; Cash Elementary; Caleb's Creek Elementary; Piney Grove Elementary; Sedge Garden Elementary; Walkertown Elementary; NC Leadership Academy; Kernersville Middle; Southeast Middle and Walkertown Middle schools. Since 1995, we have screened over 55,000 students with approximately 10% referred to doctors for further evaluation. When needed, we provide both the eye exam and glasses free for the student.

We also do vision screenings at these church pre-schools: Fountain of Life Lutheran; Main Street United Methodist and Triad Baptist.

We donate $400 in undesignated funds annually to the following local schools: Kernersville; Piney Grove; Cash; Sedge Garden; Caleb's Creek; Walkertown; NCLA and Union Cross Elementary Schools and Kernersville; East Forsyth; Walkertown and Southeast Middle Schools.

We present three (3) $1500 scholarships annually to a student at Glenn, Atkins, East Forsyth and Walkertown High School to attend the college of their choice. For more detailed information, please see Kernersville Lions Club Scholarship info under the 'Resources' index tab. Applications for Lions Club Scholarships should be picked up from Guidance Office in January of senior year and completed application returned by April 15th each year. Winners will be recognized at each schools awards day in May.

On a local level, we support the following organizations:W-S Industries for the Blind; Kernersville Little League; Kernersville Soccer Association; Kernersville Cares for Kids; Nextstep Ministries; East Forsyth YMCA youth scholarship program; East Forsyth YMCA Bright Beginnings program; Kernersville Sister City program; the Chamber of Commerce's 'Kernersville Day' at the Dash game; the Shepherd's Center; Crisis Control Ministry; Paul Ciener Botanical Garden Youth Education; Pork Butts for Veterans; Kernersville Empty Stocking Fund and Friends of the Library.

At the state level, we financially support these organizations: Boys and Girls Homes (Lake Waccamaw); Camp Dogwood (a Lions sponsored camp on Lake Norman for Visually Impaired Persons);VIP Fishing Tournament (Morehead City) and Brighter Visions Project to help maintain Camp Dogwood.

Nationally, we financially support Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF); Sight First Campaign; Leader Dog program; youth outreach and clinical eye research.

The Kernersville Lions Club collects used cell phones, hearing aids and eye glasses for distribution in third world countries. Please drop off your used items at one of the following locations:
