The Kernersville Lions Club provides eye exams and glasses for qualified local residents in Kernersville and Walkertown.

Annually, we do vision screenings at these ten (10) local schools: Kernersville Elementary; Cash Elementary; Caleb's Creek Elementary; Piney Grove Elementary; Sedge Garden Elementary; Walkertown Elementary; NC Leadership Academy; Kernersville Middle; Southeast Middle and Walkertown Middle schools. Since 1995, we have screened over 55,000 students with approximately 10% referred to doctors for further evaluation. When needed, we provide both the eye exam and glasses free for the student.

We also do vision screenings at these church pre-schools: Fountain of Life Lutheran; Main Street United Methodist and Triad Baptist.

We donate $400 in undesignated funds annually to the following local schools: Kernersville; Piney Grove; Cash; Sedge Garden; Caleb's Creek; Walkertown; NCLA and Union Cross Elementary Schools and Kernersville; East Forsyth; Walkertown and Southeast Middle Schools.

We present up to three $1500 scholarships annually to a student attending any public high schools serving Kernersville area residents.  The scholarship should be used to help the student attend the college of their choice. For more detailed information, please see Kernersville Lions Club Scholarship info under the 'Resources' index tab.

Applications for Lions Club Scholarships are online only and links to Google Form are provided each January to area guidance counselors.  Application deadline varies but is usually before spring break.  High School seniors should check with their student services department in January and pay close attention to the deadline.   Winners will be recognized at each school's awards day in May and invited to attend Kernersville Lions Meeting in May for Club recognition.
