1. Hunger Relief Program

The Lions Club of Kathmandu Kapan has actively implemented hunger relief initiatives in collaboration with local partners and government agencies. These efforts focus on supporting vulnerable populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, underprivileged children, and families facing food insecurity.

In July 2025, food distribution programs were successfully conducted in Gothatar-2 and Kapan-11, benefiting over 200 individuals. Building on this impact, the Club aims to continue providing essential food supplies and support to underserved communities and orphanages.

Estimated Budget: $450

2. Diabetes Awareness and Prevention Program

In partnership with the Menomonie Wisconsin Lions Club, the Lions Club of Kathmandu Kapan will launch a Diabetes Awareness and Prevention Program across the Kathmandu Valley in October–November 2025.

This initiative will promote early detection and encourage healthier lifestyle choices through community seminars, health camps, and the distribution of educational materials. The program is designed to improve public health awareness and reduce the long-term impact of diabetes within the community.

Estimated Budget: $150

3. Clothing Collection and Distribution Program

To support vulnerable populations during the winter season, the Lions Club of Kathmandu Kapan will organize clothing drives and outreach programs in December 2025, focusing on the Terai region.

The initiative will distribute essential items such as warm clothing, blankets, and shawls, ensuring comfort and protection for underprivileged individuals during colder months.

Estimated Budget: $350

4. Community School Support Program

The Lions Club of Kathmandu Kapan will implement a comprehensive Community School Support Program aimed at improving educational infrastructure and promoting dignity for students, particularly girls.

This initiative includes the construction of dedicated girls’ sanitation facilities equipped with sanitary vending machines, as well as the distribution of essential educational materials such as books and notebooks. The program is expected to benefit over 1,000 students, enhancing access to quality education and creating a more supportive learning environment.

Estimated Budget: $600

5. Disaster Management Program

The Lions Club will continue its commitment to disaster preparedness and response by implementing a Disaster Management Program. This initiative addresses both natural and man-made disasters, including earthquakes, floods, and wildfires.

In coordination with local authorities and relief organizations, the Club will provide emergency assistance such as shelter, food, clean water, medical supplies, and clothing to affected communities.

Estimated Budget: $200

6. Individual Aid Initiative

The Lions Club of Kathmandu Kapan, in collaboration with the Menomonie Wisconsin Lions Club, remains committed to supporting individuals in extreme need.

One such case involves an elderly Tibetan refugee, approximately 80 years old, who has no family support and is unable to sustain himself.
