- We sponsor youth programs: Scouts troops and youth sports.
- We grant scholarships for local high school students.
- We support senior citizen activities.
- Participation In community festivals: Pennington Day & Hopewell Harvest Fair.
- Participation In holiday parades: Memorial Day & July 4th.
The Hopewell Valley Lions Club raises money through its 501c3 Charitable Foundation to support the “cradle to college” education of blind and visually impaired children in Kenya. Since 2012, we have supported education for visually impaired Kenyan children and have raised over $128,000.
- We provided $43,000 to build 2 dormitories to accommodate 200 visually impaired children at St. Joseph’s Kiomiti School for the Blind in Kenya.
- We provide financial support for a teacher to help parents prepare their infants for entry into the Kiomiti School.
- We give scholarships to Kiomiti graduates accepted at Thika High School for the Blind. Since 2017, 31 have enrolled - 15 are there now, and 16 have graduated.
- We then pay for Kiomiti-Thika graduates in higher education - 5 are in 4-year universities and 10 are in 2-year vocational schools.
