The Gosford City - East Gosford Lions Story
|
The Lions Clubs of Gosford - East Gosford were initially
formed through the sponsorship of the Lions Club of The Entrance at a meeting on September 9, 1957.
For well over half a century the lions have been active throughout the Gosford - East Gosford area supporting many local
community projects throughout this period.
One of the initial projects was
the establishment of the Lions Park in Masons Parade which was built on new land reclaimed from the Broad Water foreshore. Huge
amounts of rock and rubble topped by fill and soil were needed to produce the park which is basically as it stands today.
Improvements and changes have occurred over the years and the Brick entry was part of renovations during the mid-70s.
These clubs have provided material and support
for orphanages, schools, children's entertainment, as well as care for the elderly in the community.
Various recipients include:-
* Providing a Hansa 303 Boat for the Gosford Sailability Club.
* New Surf Boat for the Copacabana Surf Club.

These are just some of the projects
supported by the Gosford City - East Gosford Lions. Community service projects designed to assist the incapacitated, people
in difficulties, and children with special needs have been funded as well. Another major project was the
building of the "Lions Community Hall" in East Gosford. |
The project was paid for by the clubs with generous donations
and assistance from many local building tradespeople and suppliers as well as grants from the Australian Lions Foundation.
The hall is available for functions and is a major fundraiser for the Lions.
