Donations
Our regular donation to Activity Alliance was agreed but with the amount increased to £250 This organisation promotes physical activities and sports for disabled people with several organised regional games.
The Club is still providing ongoing support for the Fylde Women’s Aid group and ask that any items such as new toiletries , nappies , new clothes , new toys etc be sent to our collection point of the Resources Centre (the old Liberal Club ) on Bridge Street. These will be then be taken to their central office for distribution to the various local refuges for both female and male recipients.
Events and Activities
The next major event is the Community Bonfire and Firework Display on the evening of Saturday 5th November. Admission is from 6-30pm onwards with our plan being to light the bonfire at 7pm and then begin the firework display at 7-30pm.
Prices have been kept low and agreed at being £5 for adults, £2 for any under 16 year olds and any pre school children are admitted for free. The entry fee is cash only and represents good value in these inflationary times. Please note that for safety and security reasons, no unofficial sparklers or fireworks are allowed .
A number of Lion members will be involved in the road closures and the stewarding for the Remembrance Day parade and, as always , a wreath will be lain on our behalf of our club by our chosen representative.
Also on the horizon is our Christmas Lunch for the Vulnerable Groups within our local community and their carers. This will be held on Sunday December 4th to be held at the Wyrebank Banqueting Suite. It has been two years since were able to last do this; so our
‘fingers are crossed’ that this does take place. The event will start at 12:00 noon and should cater for over 100 guests
Once again we also plan to organise a Santa Claus visit to our local residential care homes with gifts and a choir on a date yet to be agreed in December.
