Business Meeting No.12 (Introduction of Incoming Board Members, 2018-19)
A few pictures of last Business Meeting held on 21st June. One of the important items of the agenda was the introduction of the incoming board (2018-19). The President Elect shared with the members his plans of leading LCG in the coming year. After going through all the agenda items, Lion President closed the meeting, before calling for Tail-Twisting, and obviously had to pay handsomely to the Tail-Twister. Other members were also Tail-Twisted and a good amount was raised. Finally all the members said goodbye to the current board to welcome the new one (2018-19) with lite refreshments, tea/coffee/juice.
RCOOL (ZONE-4) WORKSHOP
On 9th June, Board Members of LCG attended the workshop both as facilitators and participants at Academy of Toddlers at Phakalane. Lion Meera was the Workshop Coordinator and briefed the participants about the LCI/DISTRICT/CLUBs. Lion Elizabeth was the MC and gave a very motivating talk on Member Motivation and Retention; PDG Lion James held an informative session on LCIF and clarified a lot of doubts that shadowed the incoming Board Members. Lion President Kabita tipped on the use of Information and Communication Technology in Lions Clubs affairs; Lion Nono deliberated on Code of Ethics and Lion Crunch made extremely clear about Public Speaking and Etiquette. Lion Venant also joined us to make the discussions lively and interesting. Other than LCG Board Members, the Workshop was attended by Region Chair Lion Tshidi (Coordinator, Global Action Teams (GAT), Membership Drive/Recruitment), Zone Chair Lion Lynette (Welcome Remarks), and Lion Brian (MC, Treasurer’s portfolio) from Lions Club of Lobatse who enriched us with their discourse. The host Club, Lions Club of Phakalane’s Board Members (Lion President Amsha, Lion Vinay, Lion Merusha and Lion Celia) also deliberated on a number of pertinent issues like MYLCI, Productive Meetings, Project / Activities 5 Service Areas. In all, it was a very enriching experience for all the Lion Leaders who attended.
SOCIAL
LCG had a great afternoon, a super Social with lots of food and great people. We had a very good time today. It was very refreshing, we just chatted, ate, laughed & played Tambola. Here are some pics.
56th Annual Convention-District 412 at Selebi Phikwe (Host Club: Mokomoto Club)
Thirteen (13) Members of LCG attended 56th Annual Convention from 28th to 30th April at Selebi Phikwe and received the Best Project Award in District 412. The International Director of ISAAME was the cheif Guest. He deliberated on a number of important issues that the Clubs should keep in mind, and also suggested that its time for District 412 to have Multiple District, where Botswana can stand alone as one of the DIstricts of 412.
Business Meeting (New Members' Recognition)
On 25th April, during Business Meeting, a few club members were recognised by giving certificates and pins for excellence in service.
Leo Council Meeting
Leo Council Meeting was held in Gaborone from 8th -10th Dec, hosted by the Leo Clubs of Gaborone & Phakalane. Around 85 Leos, Patrons, Teachers and School Heads from Zimbabwe, Malawi and Botswana attended this meeting. A number of presentations were made by Leos touching various aspects of Leoism. Lions from Gaborone, Phakalane, Lobatse & Malawi attended these sessions, & conducted trainings. Fun Fellowship, Braii & the Dinner were some of the highlights of the Council Meeting where Leos from different areas had chance to interact with each other. Saidi Mdala, motivational speaker, author of a no. of books shared his book Charm your Audience with all those were present & encouraged the young leaders. Leos departed to their base on 10th morning.
LCG Christmas Party
LCG had a X-Mas Party on 7th December. The members ate, drank, exchanged gifts & made merry @ The Pavilion, Fair Grounds. Before the party, LCG had a combined Board and Business Meeting and deliberated on important issues.
Yong Patriots Award Ceremony
On 2nd December, LCG was invited to attend the YOUNG PATRIOTS LEADERSHIP AWARDS @ BAOBAB PRIMARY SCHOOL. The award ceremony was to recognize & motivate young people who voluntarily lead and serve their communities. The event was graced by the awards Ambassador, the Speaker of the National Assembly - none other than our own Hon. Lion Gladys Kokorwe, the awards Patron, Chairman of Ntlo ya Dikgosi- Kgosi Puso Gaborone & Dy Clerk of National Assembly. Close to 400 children, parents, teachers, & other distinguished guests attended the function to cheer the young patriots. A very cheerful atmosphere with songs, dances & marimba was there. Seven Lion leaders attended in Blue Jackets, with LCG Banners all over. At the event the Lion President got a chance to address the audience & share about Lionism, the motto of LCI, service activities & projects. All the Lions were asked to present the Silver awards. A great publicity to Lionism & LCG. Thanks a lot to Mme Mma Kokorwe for providing this platform, standing beside us & supporting us. Also thanks to all those Lions who sacrificed their Saturday morning to be part of this function.
Zone 4C Meeting 2
The 2nd Zone 4C Meeting, hosted by Lions Club of Gaborone was held on 12th November at UB. Zone Chair Lion Lynette conducted the meeting, 16 Lions & Leos attended the meeting from various clubs. Had fruitful discussions & ended with Indian snacks, love & laughter.
Region 4 Conference
On 28th October the Region conference was attended by 13 Lions from our Club, and 3 from Leo Club of UB (our Leos). Lion Rati did a wonderful job as the MC all by herself. A lot of motivating & thought provoking presentations were made by senior Lion members. Good food was served too. Four (4) Lions from our Club got inducted to our family during the Conference. Lastly, Vote of Thanks was given by Lion Christi. Before starting the Conference, we engaged in Relieving the Hunger Project. We Serve.
Charter Lunch (Social)
Lions Club of Gaborone had a successful charter celebration on 24th September during linch. Had a lot if fun till almost 5pm. A lot of Prospective Lions were there. Had a lot of awesome, delicious food. Starters, main course, Cakes, followed by 2 rounds of Tambola. The interesting thing all those who won the prizes donated to the Club Funds. So had a fund raising activity too. It was an enjoyable relaxing time.
Lion Kokorwe's Meeting with Mr Tony Benbow (International Director-Lions Club International, 2016-18)

DG's Visit to the Business Meeting
DG & FVDG attended Business Meeting on 14th September, sat through all the deliberations, and then joined the members for dinner at Travel Lodge, Gaborone.
Zone Training-1
Training for Club Officers was organized by GLT Lion Meera on 10th september, hosted by Lions Club of Gaborone at University of Botswana. Region Chair, Zone Chair, District Treasurer together with GLT facilitated the training.
Zone Meeting-1
The Club attended Zone meeting on 13th August, in Gaborone, hosted by Lions of Phakalane at Toddlers Academy. Club officers from Lions Club of Gaborone attended the meeting along with the Region Chair, Zone Chair and some Cabinet Officers.
Around 60 people attended the change over dinner on 12th August. Region Chair, Zone Chair and Cabinet Secretary were also invited. Presidents of Lions Club of Phakalane, Greater Gaborone, Lobatse were some of the invitees.
