FENWOOD LION'S CLUB, 2015 IN REVIEW
There comes a time at the end of every year that we as a Club look back and reflect on our accomplishments for the year. 2015 was no different. Our year has been busy and very productive. In reflection here are some of the accomplishments of Our Club for 2015.
· We have 4 new Lions members: Sam Fischer, Adam Hoopenworth, Paul Leffel, and Joe Lemmer
· Performed road Clean-up in Fenwood.
· Donation to the Edgar Girls Softball association.
· Donated to Edgar High School for Post Prom event and helped promote their theme of "Working together to Stop Drinking and Driving
· We awarded 8 scholarships with an added incentive to "up" the scholarship for preforming community service for the Fenwood Lions or other service organization.
· Donation towards the Village of Fenwood 4th of July Fireworks
· Purchased glasses for a girl in Athens who is blind in one eye and vision impaired in the other so she is able to play soccer while protecting her one "healthier" eye.
· Donated to the Village of Edgar for new youth ball diamonds project.
· Donation to Edgar Fire Department towards the purchase of a UTV to be used for off road rescue.
· Donated to Annette Schultz Benefit to assist her with the expenses relating to cancer treatment? Annette is Dennis Kirsch’s ( a long time club member) sister.
· Successful Men’s and Women’s softball and bean bag tournaments.
· Funds raised through the sale of our $5 and $50 raffle tickets. Funds from the $50 raffle are target for state and national Lions fund drives such as Camp Rosholt.
· Club was invited to serve on the Village of Fenwood Centennial Board to prepare for the 125 year Celebration which is planned for Saturday of the 2016 Women’s tournament.
· Bartended at the Antique Steam and Gas Engine Show in August earning funds for the Club.
· Donation to the “Walk In Their Shoes” fund
· Donated to Jamie Wenzel for financial assistance towards his recovery from burns suffered in November.
· Collected and donated over 500 pairs of glasses, 54 cell phones and 6 hearing aides
· Donated and delivered 18 Christmas Fruit baskets for the more mature members of our community and Lion’s family.
· Donated to the Stratford Food Pantry
· Donated to the Edgar Circle of Joy
· Sponsored Santa & Mrs. Clause coming to Fenwood. We had 47 young kids come this year along with their older kid like parents.
We look forward to serving our communities again in 2016. The Fenwood Lion's Ballpark will undergo some major changes in the near future with new dugouts, announcing stand, scoreboard and repaired fencing. Look for more changes this year.
Being a Lion is an honor. All of our members are very willing to lend a hand, toss out an idea or bring a need to the Club.
