Meetings

Christmas Tree Sales - Selling Christmas trees is our main fundraiser for the year.   Members participate in setting up the lot, hauling trees, and selling.   We then distribute 100% of this money to charities, mostly local.

Adopt a Road - Fairwood Lions members clean up two sections of main road in Fairwood when needed.

Challenge Air - Pilots donate their time to give handicapped children an opportunity to experience flight in a small plane and, depending upon ability, allow them to fly the plane.  Fairwood Lions help with loading and unloading the children, registration, and with the Giving Library.

The Giving Library - An active group, the Lions Giving Library accepts gently used preschool through early teenage books, sorts them, and distributes them at events such as Homeless Connect, Challenge Air, a summer lunch program for children, and Headstart classes.

Annual Picnic - In late August or early September we celebrate our accomplishments with a picnic at Coulon Park with games, bubbles for kids, and great food.

Youth in Need - Our club sponsors a clothing drive in autumn that provides mittens, hats, scarves, clothing, socks, and underwear to two local elementary schools and a Headstart program.

Adopt a Family - Working with a Renton School nurse, we choose a school family in need.  Using the family's "wish list" as a guide we purchase Christmas gifts that may include clothing, shoes, books, games, and toys.

Sight and Hearing - With the support of Lenscrafters, the Fairwood Lions are able to provide low-income clients with an eye exam and eyeglasses.  The hearing aids the public donates to the Lions are processed through the Lions Hearing Aid Bank, and with partial funding from The Northwest Lions Foundation, our club is able to provide hearing aids to those of limited resources.

Socials - A few times a year we gather to enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.
