Lions club of Erode was sponsored by the Lions club of Karur. It was inaugurated by the then Dist Governor Lion P.Sundaram with 20 members at the C N college, Erode on 12th Nov.1961.Chartered in the year 1961, the Charter President was Lion N.Chikaiah Naicker.In1973,our club came under the dist 324 B2. Our charter Member Lion M.Periasamy became the Dist. Governor. Since then, many awards were received for the membership growth and still it is with held. The lions magazine was named “Erode Lions”and the first magazine came in 1968. The Silver jubilee was celebrated on 23.11.1986 with the chief guest Bharat Ratna. C.Subramaniam, the then Central Minister. An ambulance was donated to the Govt General Hospital, Erode District. The permanent project was the school run by the Lions Club Of Erode atSengodanpallam.It is a school for the physically challenged children under the name Arima Society Trust.Nearly 13 lions clubs and 2 leo clubs were sponsored till date. The Golden Jubilee was celebrated in the year 2010. A new building at the Arima Trust Society was built. It was inaugurated by the Minister of State Hon. Sengottian. Presently, there are four Dist. Governors and around 200 members are rendering their Yeomen service through the club.
