Edinburg Lions Club Charter Night
The Edinburg LIons Club was formed in 1947, so we are celebrating our 75th Anniversary in 2022. The club traditional holds a Charter Night in March. It is a major fundraising event as well as a nice social activity. The highlight of the evening is a silent auction. It was cancelled in 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The club's Charter Night was last held in 2020 on March 14th at the Edinburg Fire Hall. It was one of the town's last community events before the COVID-19 restrictions went into effect shutting down all social activities. Unfortunately, the Coronavirus scare impacted attendance, keeping many ticket holders home. However, the 35 folks who were there enjoyed the evening, getting some great bargains at the Silent Auction.
Before dinner, the guests enjoyed wine, beer, and appetizers while elbow-bumping greetings in lieu of the forbidden handshake. Bidding was fairly light, although there were some great offerings, including gift cards and merchandise donated by a variety of local merchants to include James River Equipment, Suzanne's Studio, Cave Ridge Vineyard, Shenandoah Wine Tours, Caremlized Diner, Wholesome Foods, Penelope's Cafe and Gallery, Tractor Supply, Fort Valley Nursery and Garden Cafe.
The auction and dinner netted the club $1047.
