We have 3 Permanent Club Projects :

BLESSING

Blessing is a Centre for Spastics and Mentally Handicapped Children. Feeling the need for one such institution in this part of the country, Lions Club of Dibrugarh Brahmaputra Valley initiated the project & started this institution called 'Blessing' on 25th February 1989 in a premises temporarily provided by a Lion member for this purpose.

Considering the importance of the project and the service it has been rendering, the Government of Assam allotted a plot of land in the heart of Dibrugarh Town for the building. Construction of our own building on this plot of land was started in the year 2000.For permanent setup of the centre LCIF granted $ 75,000 and the building “Lion care center” was completed in the year 2002.We have shifted the Blessing school on 4th August '2003 in the new Building. This project was awarded the best project for Child Welfare in the Lions Multiple District in the Year 1990-91 and was adjudged the best Permanent Project of the Lions District 322D many times.

The children with mental retardation and Cerebral Palsy are the most neglected section of society. We have taken up the challenge to make these children as independent as possible. Early intervention and proper guidance can reverse the deteriorating condition of a child and the same person can become a productive member of society with dignity and self-respect. Now we have 48 regular and more than 50 OPD students. In last 3 years 11students of Blessing got admission in normal school which is a great achievement.

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt., of India has appointed 'Blessing' as a N.G.O.to implement their National Programme to cover maximum number of families having mentally retarded children, within the shortest time frame.
