Gran's Van has been providing help to the homeless and hidden poor of Devonport since 2006. In 2016, the Mersey Devonport Lions club agreed to add Gran's Van as an ongoing project. The club has agreed to dedicate at least one BBQ to Gran's Van per Lions year and also to regularly donate items such as clothing, blankets and non-perishable foods from January 2017 onwards. |
Felicity Sly, President Gran's Van Association, was invited to attend as guest speaker in 2016. Felicity spoke about the history of Gran's Van, Gran's Van's objectives, and her experiences of volunteering with the van. At the end of her talk, President Dennis Appleby presented Felicity with a $500 donation and a framed certificate from the Mersey Devonport Lions Club, congratulating Gran's Van for 10 years of service to the Devonport community. |
