Meetings

On the 21st of May 1976, the Charter Night was
held for the Lions Club of Devonport Mersey.
Our Club was Incorporated as Lions Club of
Mersey Devonport, taking on the name as
suggested by Lion Vere Cooper on the
formation meeting.

The night was chaired by Lion Bill Slater from
the Lions Club of City of Devonport.

The night saw our Club Chartered with 24 Lions
inducted, one is still a member of the Club, Lion
Vere Cooper .

The Clubs first President was Lion Ilvan Eade.
The Club has now progressed into it's 47th year
and has seen many changes. The Club
membership has shown a total of 136 like-
minded Devonport citizens over those years.
Over the years club 15 Members have received
Melvin Jones Fellowships in recognition of their
commitment to Lions International and the
Lions Club of Mersey Devonport.

Membership has been awarded to 18 members.
1 know that our Lions Club is in good hands with
our current members and will continue to
support our local community and Lions
International projects.
