The Lions Club Curepipe, founded in 1979, bears the distinctive name of CLUB 037503, Region 5, Zone 52, District 417 of Lions Club International, headquartered in Chicago, United States.
Lions form an international network of more than 1.4 million men and women in around 210 countries and geographies working together to meet the needs of communities around the world.
The Lions Club Curepipe currently has 46 members who meet on the 1st Wednesday of each month at the Hennessy Park Hotel and on the 3rd Friday / Saturday of the same month at one of its members' place, to share a meal amongst friends and build upon the friendship.
Providing for the needs of local communities, Lions are organising screening eye screening projects for a number of people of different age groups, diabetes sensitisation campaigns and other health related projects.
We work as much for the protection of the environment as for the development of the local community and conduct training sessions.
Under the aegis of our Club, 5 new Clubs have been formed: Lions Club Moka, Lions Club Ebene (year 2012); Lions Club Flacq (year 2013), Lions Club Savanne year (2014) and Lions Club Grand-Port (year 2017)
The Club is all the more proud of the fact that one of the founding members, Lions Georges Leung Shing (CMJP), was elected as the first Governor of the new District 403 B2, which was created in July 2014 at the International Convention held at Toronto.
We thank you for your support of the Lions movement, the world's leading NGO, and invite you to join the great chain of human solidarity to serve together in simplicity.
