SPECTACLE SUNDAY

Spectacle Sunday was started in 2003 as an idea by one Lion!  Simply stated, the last sunday of each October was designated by the Lions of District 1-A as the day that they provided eye glass collection boxes to all the local area churches and provided information to the congregations to bring in their old and unused eye glasses to church on that Sunday.  The glasses were picked up by the local lions clubs and forwarded on to the Lions of Illinois Foundation or other Lions eye glass re-cycling centers..

This has provided opportunities for lions to come into church meetings to explain about Lionism and how the glasses are provided to those who need them.   Eye glass collection boxes can be left at the local libraries, police and fire stations to add to the collection of glasses on Spectacle Sunday!
