Any Baby Can helps children with direct support, case Management, counseling, prescription assistance, crisis assistance and a myriad of services. In the case of of this tear's child, Alyssa, they have provided a specialized bed, referred the family to people and agencies they could never know about and have provided diapers, HEB gift cards and various other services. Central Park Lions Club makes a sizable donation to Any Baby Can every year, in addition to all the proceeds from the raffle of the doll going to Any Baby Can. Our club raffles off the new baby every year.
Alyssa came into this world twisted at a backward 90-degree angle, her head touching her buttocks. She suffered from multiple muscular contractions and locked joints. Although she is less than two years old her schedule is crammed with doctor visits, physical occupational therapy and other health care appointments. Alyssa has been diagnosed with arthrogryposis, a rare condition where babies are born with stiff joints, underdeveloped muscles and bones, and other distortions.
We have attached two pictures regarding Central Park Lions Club's annual raffle of an Any Baby Can doll over the weekend of October 24th in Uvalde, TX.
The first picture was taken at our raffle table in Uvalde, on the left is Dennis Alvey, President and on the right is Bob Taylor, Vice President. The doll is a replica of this year's Any Baby Can poster baby, Alyssa.
The second picture is one taken of the raffle winner, Deacon Jesse Greer of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in San Antonio. We dropped the doll off at their house in San Antonio when we returned Saturday.
