Over the weekend of the 13th and 14th of November this year, the Ferry Artists will host the inaugural Art Show for Careflight at their gallery in Wiseman’s Ferry town centre.

Over many years, Careflight has been responsible for saving many lives in places that are either a long way from a Hospital or even in circumstances where every second matters when it comes to rescuing people who need urgent medical assistance.  I personally know of people who have been rescued by Careflight from accidents along Windsor Road who owe their lives to the service they provide.  Along the banks of the Hawkesbury River, there are many people who are comforted by the fact that we have a rescue service that can get to them far quicker than conventional means.  The Hawkesbury is such a beautiful place but ferry crossings and the distance many places are from a hospital means that Careflight often does make the difference between life and death for people in a critical situation.

The Ferry Artists are a not for profit community of artists who either live, or have their hearts firmly set in the Hawkesbury around Wiseman’s Ferry and the surrounding towns. They have happily agreed to work alongside the Lions Club of Castle Hill to hold a special weekend of activities with the aim of raising awareness and funds for Careflight.

On Saturday throughout the day there will be auctions of valuable artworks donated by local well known artists. For more information on works to be auctioned, see  A raffle will also be held, featuring a beautiful framed painting in the tradition of Margaret Preston, as well as other prizes donated by businesses in the community.

Saturday will end with the official opening of the newest exhibition held at the gallery, 3pm;  where all visitors are encouraged to stay and share refreshments with the artists.

The Ferry Artists are opening their doors and verandah to a variety of “makers & producers” who will be selling their homemade and homegrown wares with a percentage of all sales, going to Careflight.

There will be demonstrations of painting & sculpture, live music, children’s activities and a sausage sizzle run by the Lions Club as well as a small local growers market.  The town centre of Wiseman’s Ferry lends itself to a friendly and family atmosphere where it’s easy to forget that it’s so close to the rush of Sydney.
