Our Club & Our History
Berea Lions Club was officially chartered by Lions International on January 14, 1953.
The members met at Berea High School until the Berea Lions Club Community Center opened on January 14, 1957. The Community Center was constructed to create a place for Lions to meet and implement projects and to furnish a place to be used by the community for various functions, such as weddings, birthday parties, reunions and etc.
In the year 2000, Berea Lions Club was recognized by the state of South Carolina as a non-profit, public benefit corporation and officially became Berea Lions Club, Incorporated.
On April 18, 2016, a 501 (c) (3) foundation status was attained under the name Berea Lions Club Foundation and was accepted by the state of South Carolina as an incorporated entity with the name Berea Lions Club Foundation, Incorporated
The Berea Lions Club and Foundation continue to be an active and important influence in the Berea Community.
Our Mission
Our mission is to serve and empower Lions, volunteers, and partners to improve health and well-being, strengthen our community, and support those in need with financial donations through our foundation, Berea Lions Club Foundation, Incorporated.
As Lions, our areas of concern are Drug Awareness, Diabetes Awareness, Sight Conservation, and work with the blind, environmental services, Leo Club Programs, Youth Exchange Programs, and International Relations Programs.
