Letters to Father Christmas Project

I answered every letter with either one or the other of standard letters, supplied by the Vermont Lions Club of Victoria.I look forward o doing it again next year.

It is a worthwhile project and can I suggest that you all consider conducting it in your own various towns next year.

Knitting

While our members are travelling this great land of ours, it is usually the man who drives and the lady who sits in the passenger seat and knits and knits etc. for the Australian Lionsonoz Knitting Project.

These knitted items are distributed to a wide range of recipients who appreciate the effort put in to them. We knit bed socks, soft toys, teddies, beanies, mittens, knee rugs, basket purses, love cushions and shawls.

We are receiving knitted garments from our own Australia Lionsonoz members as well as Lions from other Lions Clubs.

Donations of wool are appreciated should you happen to have some tucked away in your cupboards.

Fishing

I finally got around to going fishing in the New Year.

After a while I ran out of worms. Then I saw a big Brown Snake with a frog in his mouth, and frogs are good bait for Murray Cod. Knowing the snake could not bite me with a frog in its mouth, I grabbed him right behind his head, took the frog out of his mouth and put it in my bait bucket.

Now the problem was, how to release the snake without getting myself bitten in the act.

I grabbed my bottle of Bundaberg Rum and poured a good drop into the snake’s mouth and gave him a shake.

His eyes rolled back and he went limp, so I released him back into the Dam without any problem and carried on with my fishing, using the frog as bait

A little while later I felt a Tap, Tap, Tapping on my leg and looked down.

There was the snake with TWO frogs in his mouth.
