Donations - Lionistic Year 2016/17

We had another successful year, under the presidency of Lion David Seager. Below is a list of the work carried out and the donations that we made to Local charitable causes as well as National and International.
As usual we carried out our annual Christmas Caring Appeal and again as we did the previous year we teamed up with Bolton At Home, Bolton Lads and Girls Club  and Urban Outreach to run Bolton's Big Christmas Toy Appeal.  The Lions gave gifts to 1299, an increase of 30% from the previous year, out of the 1602 disadvantaged young people who received them, and this meant that around 10000  gifts had to be obtained, processed and delivered. There is a detailed report under Christmas Toy Appeal.

We continued to broadcast our music programs on our radio channel at Royal Bolton Hospital on a daily basis, including playing Patient's requests on Sunday morning and sometimes on Friday as well. We also continued to support the Message in a Bottle scheme.

We held our usual Christmas Party for the Housebound at Drummond Street Centre.

We carried out collections for Marie Curie.

In addition to these regular activities, in June we held a  free Prostate Cancer screening event and though it was a poor day, 104 men took advantage of the opportunity.  More details of this event can be found under the Past Events page.
